senior project manager

Senior Project Manager

Driving Project Excellence Across Diverse Portfolios

POSITION SUMMARY

Our client, Arris Construction is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support and grow its Wetumpka / Montgomery operations. This role is intended for an experienced, well-rounded construction PM who can independently manage general construction and mechanical scopes, support local clients, and help stabilize and mentor a growing regional team.

This is not a siloed “GC PM” or “Mechanical PM” role. Our client is intentionally moving toward all-encompassing Project Managers who can flex across project types based on business demand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout across general construction and mechanical scopes

  • Serve as a local project leader for Wetumpka-Montgomery area work, with consistent physical presence

  • Lead budgets, schedules, cost forecasting, billing, and change management

  • Interface directly with local clients, subcontractors, and vendors

  • Identify additional work opportunities through strong execution and relationships (not formal sales)

  • Mentor and support junior Project Managers and PM Assistants

  • Operate with minimal day-to-day oversight; integrate quickly into our client’s systems and culture

  • Support national account or emergency work only as needed, not as the core focus

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).

  • Background managing commercial construction projects (both GC and mechanical projects, ground-up, remodel, or infrastructure).

  • 8–15+ years of construction project management experience

  • Familiarity with the Wetumpka / Montgomery regional market strongly preferred

  • Comfortable acting as a “local face” of the company

  • Practical, execution-oriented, and comfortable making decisions independently

  • Experience mentoring junior staff or stabilizing a growing office is a plus

  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in the $500K–$5M+ range.

  • Strong understanding of safety, quality control, and subcontractor management.

Leadership & Soft Skills

  • Exceptional communication, organization, and leadership abilities.

  • Collaborative, hands-on approach with the ability to manage both people and processes.

  • Demonstrated success in maintaining positive client relationships under demanding deadlines.
